Last 22nd of October we participated at the Crowdsourcing week in Brussels.

It was an event full of inspiring speeches and that fuelled many challenging questions, I feel it is necessary and positive to share some of them here.

What is Crowdsourcing?

What has to do all this with Somos Más?

Let’s start with answering the first question: “Crowdsourcing is the practice of engaging a ‘crowd’ or group for a common goal — often innovation, problem solving, or efficiency.” * In this world with its growing connectivity, it became easier than ever for individuals to contribute collectively. This collective mobilization is crowdsourcing. It can provide individuals, entrepreneurs and organisations to have access to new solutions and ideas, optimization, engagement, co-creation opportunities and cost reduction.

“Crowdsourcing, as it is called, is helping to solve tricky problems and providing localized information. And with the right knowledge, contributing to the crowd — and using its wisdom — is easier than ever.” (The New York Times)

But how does it relate to our work?

In Somos Más we believe in collective intelligence and in the power and big potential of the crowd. We are convinced that if we use this intelligence in a more effective open and trustfully way, solutions can be found much quicker and challenges can be overcome much faster. We support crowdsourcing and the methodologies and technical tools behind it, since one of our main goals is to give peoples potential a greater voice in any level of our society.”
